Vietnamese Wedding

Returning home to Charlotte, NC, I photographed a Vietnamese wedding. I've been very fortunate in having the opportunity to photograph a number of Vietnamese - and other Asian - weddings in the last few years, and I'm always amazed by the color and beauty of the traditions they bring to the wedding day!
We started in the morning at the bride's parent's house and then went to the groom's parents house. The traditional Vietnamese wedding customs were observed with the exchange of gifts, the tea ceremony, and honoring respected members of the family.

Then we returned to Tuyet's house so, with her bridesmaids help, she could change into her American gown for the church ceremony...

We stopped to do photos of just Tuyet and Hai before going on to the reception. They were awesome, and didn't even blink when I asked them to walk out into a field full of weeds and tall grass. Tuyet just hiked up her dress and out they went! And they agreed that the results were well worth it! :)

At the reception, Tuyet wore her Vietnamese gown as she, Hai and their families visited each table to receive gifts and advice from the guests, then returned to her American gown for the dancing and festivities.

It was a long day for both families, but a beauiful combination of old and new traditions.

Congratulations Tuyet and Hai!

Starting Big - West Coast Wedding

Tanya & Michael's wedding:

So for my first ever blog posting I thought I'd go big - with the big mountains of the west coast! This was a weekend of mountainbiking and marriage set in the beautiful village of Whistler, British Columbia. My bride and groom were fun and flirty, a wedding photographers dream! So here is a small taste of our day...
